Erythritol

Erythritol is found in nature and offers an intensely sweet flavor without any calories. Safe for diabetics and allergy sufferers. Erythritol, discovered in the mid-nineteenth century and safely used ever since, is valued for providing the sweetness of sugar without any of the adverse side-effects sometimes associated with other sugar substitutes. This is not quite as sweet as xylitol so if one is altering a recipe, one may need to use cup for cup substitution for table sugar, without the adverse side effects:-).

We use xylitol and erythritol in our home in a number recipes. The dental hygienist did ask me what I had been doing differently this past year :-). Please be forewarned, one does have to ease the body into xylitol and sometimes erythritol. One may experience some stomach or intestinal gurgling  until acclimated.

This product is US sourced  from Health Gardens and should be safer for indoor animals. It isn’t toxic to our fur babies as xylitol can be.
